Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Sometimes work feels like:

So there's been little knitting, blogging or even sleeping chez moi (the gangsta kitties are very miffed) but I did get away one night this week to attend the Stitch N Pitch game with LCK at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

Here we are with our beers and my 6 chins:

I think I got about 4 rows done on my SP4 sock:

Here's a shot of Barry Bonds NOT hitting a home run:

Here's another shot of Barry Bonds NOT hitting a home run:
This was LCK's first major league baseball game so I was disappointed that it was a bit lackluster, a little chilly and that nothing exciting happened. I'm not really a Barry Bonds fan but it would have been fun to see some baseball history. At least LCK got to do the 7th inning stretch, eat a ginormous grilled Giants dog, sip a $9 beer and learn about walk-up songs.

We also got a goodie bag full of free stuff. My favorite being the 35cm Pony aluminum needles in Giants orange and the Stitch N Pitch tape measure with a built in level. So now, if I'm at knit night and someone gets the urge to hang a picture, I can say, "Hey! I have a level in my knitting bag!"

Sock it to Meme

The other day Bezzie threw out this challenge (and there's not much I wouldn't do for her):

Show us where you store your handknit socks!

For some strange reason, I keep my handknit socks away from my mass produced Target socks (maybe so they won't breed) but I'm not that organized so they're in the same drawer as my summer pajamas. Because that makes sense.

Normally my sock drawer looks something like this:

So I tidied up a bit and now looks like this. Those fabric containers were picked up at Ikea a few years ago. I'm not sure if they still have them but I think they're pretty groovy. I even have 2 orphan socks on the right.

So now I need to throw down the same challenge! Let's see sock drawers from some Cali Girls: Carrie , LCK , Sarah & Stephaneener (oh wait. I don't think she likes to knit socks)

And now for my sad story:

Ok, this is where I had planned to post my mystery stole update. But today, after hours and hours (did I say hours?) I finished Clue 3 and felt so good about it I took a few photographs. But after I loaded the photographs I noticed so many errors I wanted to cry. Silly huh? Well, I thought about just knitting on but I knew the mistakes would plague me forever so I ripped it off and tossed it in the garbage.

So now I'm debating whether I should give up or start over. Or write a witty Harlot-esque essay about how knitting is a metaphor for life with ups and downs, but instead I'll just go eat some cookies and visit my therapist:

"So tell me about your childhood. Was your mother over-protective? Oops! Look at the clock. That's all the time we have for today but I feel we've made some real progress here."

YPF: Artfibers

A few weekends ago, LCK & I stopped by Artfibers and I couldn't resist buying some Tsuki. A whole cone of Tsuki. Now that I'm a master lace knitter and all. *cough*

2,318 yards of silk 40% superkid mohair 60%. (Doesn't "superkid" conjure up images of a little goat wearing a knitted cape with a big S emblazoned on his chest?)

Speaking of master lace knitting. I was about halfway through Chart B of clue one of the Mystery Stole when something, probably my concentration, went terribly wrong. I had to rip back about 5 rows to a lifeline that I, thank God, happened to put in. (note to self: when putting in a lifeline on a lace project indicate on the pattern exactly which row you thread the lifeline in. You're not that good yet and it will save you 30 minutes of anguish trying to figure out where you are).

So it was getting close to midnight and I had to put the knitting down and get to bed. I'll be stuck at work all day just twitching to get back at it and see if I figured out where I went wrong. I also found a YO in the wrong place that's driving me crazy but it's below the lifeline so I'm going to have to live with it or start over.

I think I need something like a lace knitting GPS device.

WIP Wednesdays

Not much to see folks but I've completed chart A of the Mystery Stole pattern:

I have never knit lace with lace weight yarn before so what the heck, why not knit a up pattern you where have no idea what the end result will be. Luckily for me, there are fast knitters out there who whip through these patterns so I can peek at their blogs to see if I'm on track. (doesn't it look like lace bikini underwear at this point?)

Here is sock one for my Sockapolooza pal. Sadly, it's been in this state for about a month.

And, looking exactly like it did last week, my lapghan. I'll be working on this later today pre-BBQ.

I did have one measly FO, finished on June 30. Gryff socks for my sister. Because all Harry Potter fans need wool socks for the sizzlin' hot July movie premiere and book release:

Happy 4th of July!!
