First FOs of 2008

Last night I finished up my first FOs of 2008. They're for my cousin's baby to be born at the end of this month.

Saartje's Booties
and the Heartbreakingly Cute Baby Kimono from Mason Dixon Knitting

Yarn: Trendsetter Yarn's Scoubi Du 50% cotton, 50% acrylic

Kimono
Started: 30 December
Finished: 1-Jan (seamed and buttoned yesterday)
Modifications: I added an inch to the body.

Booties
Started: 2-Jan
Finished: 5-Jan
Modifications: I made a mistake on the first bootie and left out two rows. After completing the second bootie correctly, I deciscovered that I liked the smaller version better (probably because scoubi du is a worsted weight vs. fingering weight used in the original pattern) the than the and made a third one with the same -2 rows.

Other than that, I'm spending a lazy January blah Sunday afternoon fighting a cold, and doing a little knitting, napping and television viewing.

The above comment was mine, somehow my husband was logged in and I didn't know it. :)

Does baby get the book too? I love your literary-baby theme books. (I'm remembering the Beatrix Potter theme from last time).

I hope you feel better soon! The booties and kimono are so cute! I love how you added length to the body of the kimono. That bugged me a bit when I made mine. Seemed too short but I don't know babies so who am I to judge?

So adorable in that yarn!!

Yeah I am not big on the booties, they don't seem practical but they are stinkin' cute!!

Lucky baby! Sorry about your cold -- it's nasty this time of year. If you really really need a spinning fix, there's an Ashford for sale relatively cheap at the new yarn store on Piedmont, and you can come and use my Lendrum if you don't mind the screaming circus. . .

Oh man, now I REALLY want to make one of these kimonos! They pair so well with the booties. Too cute. All of it.

What a beautiful gift! They should be framed in a shadow box and hung on the wall. Truly art at it's finest!
