For Mal's Mom

Mal is dear friend of blogless friend K.
Mal's Mom is undergoing chemo for breast cancer.
I hope this will bring her some comfort while she's getting better.

Pattern: Odessa
Yarn: Rowan Cashsoft DK (57% extra fine merino, 33% microfibre, 10% cashmere), color #502
Needles: US Size size 4 & 6 circulars & US 6 DPNs, all Clover Bamboo
Modifications: I omitted the beads since I didn't want them to bother tender skin

###

At the Spinning & Fiber intensive we were assigned to knit socks from our drop spindles. I didn't love mine so I made it into a strange shaped kitty toy.

You'd look this sad too if you had to pose with a toy this ugly.

Pretty Odessa. Sucks that you had to make it though.

That's a pretty hat, and thoughtful about the beads. Again, it's a sad reason, but a kind thought. I think the cat will look much happier when you walk away with the camera.

Lovely hat- I'm certain it will make her feel fabulous wearing it.
Actually, I think that's a great idea for the cat toy- 2 of my (gulp) 5 are passionately in love with wool- particularly felted- & it would be a great way to use up end skeins of sock yarn.

What a pretty Odessa. I hope that the good wishes and hopes knit into it have the desired effect.

The kitty toy is obviously appreciated. Cute kitty!

a hand made hat with love is far better than anything else (and it's lovely).

Does your cat reallycare what the toy looks like? Maybe it needs more catnip!

Beautiful hat, and soft too- what a lovely reminder of how much people care for her in her difficult time.

Maybe kitty is sad because you do not share her love of a handmade toy.

What a beautiful, thoughtful gift, that I know will be cherished. It's a gorgeous color, knitted with her in mind, and she is going to deeply appreciate your time and thoughts in making it.

Thank you so much, it will really brighten up some icky chemo days!! No worries, she's a fighter and will be back wearing it over hair in no time :)

You are the best!!! xoxo
